Frequently Asked Questions
Question: If I am a homeowner in the affected area do I have to buy a tree?
Answer: No, we will provide free trees to everyone affected by last year's tornado.
Question: As a recipient of a tree do I have to help plant the tree?
Answer: No, while we encourage everyone to participate, not every homeowner may be able to be present or able to help with the planting. It is our pleasure to present this gift to you.
Question: Who will be responsible for the care of the tree after it is planted?
Answer: We are asking that the homeowner assume responsibility for the tree once it is planted. We are planting the trees at the proper time of year and each home will receive a care package with instructions on how to properly care for their particular tree. In addition, homeowners may call the Urban Forestry Division of the Planning Department in the City of Prattville at 334.361.3613.
Question: What if I want to volunteer for the planting or hole preparation, but don't quite know how?
Answer: We will be providing training classes during the month of January to properly instruct the volunteers on hole digging and preparation, tree planting, watering, and mulching. Our goal is as close to a 100% survival rate for these trees as is possible. To ensure that, proper installation is a must.
